Midday pause with lemon balm

A ten minute break between meetings: lemon balm infusion and a closed laptop.

Steps

Close the screen

Shut the laptop or tablet, turn the phone face down. The pause begins with a quieter room.

Pour over lemon balm

Pour hot water over one teaspoon of dried lemon balm or a small handful of fresh leaves. Steep for six minutes.

Look out the window

Drink the tea by the window. No reading, no answering, no planning. When the cup is empty, the break is over.

Note

Lemon balm is among the best tolerated kitchen herbs and is suitable for children from school age as a mild infusion. People taking sedatives or thyroid medication should ask a clinician before regular daily intake.
