OUR STORY
Christiane Rauch was brilliant with herbs and in the kitchen. Her family and friends loved what she made. Her knowledge and ideas also found their way into cooking, housekeeping and gardening magazines. Turning that passion into a business remained an unfulfilled dream. Today her son Stephan, together with the Christiane team, is taking that step. We develop her recipes, examine them in light of current knowledge, and explain what goes into our products. So you can understand plants better and take an active part in caring for your well-being. We build for the next 50 years.
The people behind ChristianeChristiane inherited many of her recipes from her mother. They became the beginning of a lifelong passion. The work of French herbalist Maurice Mességué was an enduring inspiration: she read, experimented, and kept learning about plants and how to prepare them.
This was a time when many people were turning away from natural remedies and looking to synthetic chemistry as the future. Christiane remained curious about what grew in gardens, meadows, and forests. She wanted to preserve that knowledge and pass it on.
A walk with Christiane was always a chance to discover something. In the forests and unspoilt Austrian countryside, she gathered herbs and taught the children how to recognise them, how to use them, and the effects traditionally attributed to them. Plants along the path acquired names and a place in her recipes.
The discoveries continued at home, in her own herbal garden and kitchen. In a column for housekeeping magazines, Christiane wrote about what she was growing, shared recipes, and passed on her knowledge. Her enthusiasm reached well beyond the family.
Throughout those years, Christiane dreamed of turning her passion into a business. Taking that step was far from easy then, especially for a woman with a family. She never quite dared. Her recipes and ideas remained a gift to the people around her.
Christiane died in 2009 after a short illness, aged just 64. Far too soon. For Stephan, it is an honour to fulfil her dream together with the Christiane team and give her life’s work the place it deserves.
Her recipes are our starting point. We develop and improve them with the latest scientific insights. Christiane’s spirit and passion live on in what we make today, and in what you have yet to discover with us.
OUR TEAM
Christiane Rauch began making herbal recipes for family and friends as a young woman. Her knowledge, her kitchen, and her practical sense of care are the origin of this brand.
Christiane Rauch's sister. Just as passionate about natural remedies as Christiane. Has been an invaluable advisor on product ideas and formulations since before the founding of the company, so we consider her as a co-founder in spirit.
Stephan began Christiane's Naturkraft to honor his mother and the recipes people had loved around her for decades. Christiane was brilliant with herbs and food, but she never quite dared to turn that gift into products people could buy. Stephan's work is to carry that care forward with the courage she never claimed for herself.
Franz spent more than three decades across Austrian food retail, from Billa and Libro to REWE International AG, with category and sourcing responsibility. For years he has dreamed of building something from the ground up. Being part of the Christiane team is where that dream finally takes shape.
Wenbo earned his DPhil in structural biology at the University of Oxford (Rosalind Franklin Institute) in 2023, and contributes as an Associate Editor at Nature Communications on structural biology and biophysics. The Christiane idea took hold of him the first time he heard about it. Today he treats it as a personal mission to carry these products to the UK and to China, so more people there can experience what Christiane has been sharing for decades.
The third generation is already getting ready to take over the company in a few years. Today we count on them as our head tasters and most reliable testers. Our quality standard: whatever our own children are not fully enthusiastic about, we do not sell.

Honorary Professor at Cardiff University. Has worked since the 1980s at the interface of organic chemistry, structural biology, and enzymology. Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry.
Postdoctoral researcher at the University of Oxford. Studies plant-pathogen interactions; author in Nature Communications, The Plant Cell, and New Phytologist.
NHS doctor with Graduate Entry Medicine at the University of Cambridge, an MSc in Clinical and Therapeutic Neuroscience (Oxford), and a first-class degree in Biochemical Engineering (UCL). Her AfN-accredited nutrition diploma and clinical experience inform our evidence-aware product development and the careful way we word our claims.
